While Clear Cut’s transparent paper gives you an advantage when it comes to visibility in certain situations like cover-ups or filling in small areas, we would not recommend it for “regular use.” It is 4x the cost of our recommended tattoo transfer paper, Spirit Transfer Paper

Clear Cut is made with high-quality materials and creates strong, long-lasting stencils that will hold up over the course of a long tattoo session. Because of the paper’s material, you can reapply the stencil more than once without ripping or smudging.

Handling (7/10)

Clear Cut Stencils use a transparent plastic-feeling transfer paper. Because of this, it can sometimes be difficult to cut out or determine which side of the paper the stencil is on. Additionally, it does not bend with the body as well as traditional stencil paper, which can cause some smearing.
  • Better visibility for lining up cover-ups or filler pieces
  • Long-lasting stencil
  • Expensive
  • More difficult to use

Clear Cut Stencils - Our Review:

Clear Cut Stencils Transparent Thermal Paper is expensive. However, transparent paper has a lot of benefits, and we recommend having a pack of Clear Cut Stencils in your studio for the times where it might help you get a completely precise placement.

Clear Cut Stencils can give you an edge when you need to be very specific about placement like during a cover-up or when placing a design that will become a “filler piece” (for ex: in a sleeve).

Better for Smaller Tattoos

Transparent stencil paper feels a bit more like plastic than paper. Because of this, it can be difficult to get it to curve around different body parts, and the stencil might smear. We recommend using Clear Cut Stencils for smaller pieces.

Long-Lasting Stencil

Even after rubbing over the stencil several times, the lines from Clear Cut’s stencil was easily visible and would clearly last through a long tattoo session. Additionally, if the stencil needs to be placed elsewhere on the client, Clear Cut’s paper is durable and can be used additional times without ripping.

Who Clear Cut Stencils Transparent Thermal Transfer Paper Is (and Isn’t) For:

We recommend professional tattoo artists have a pack of Clear Cut stencils on hand to make placing cover-up designs easier. They are also great for artists preparing to place “filler pieces” on their clients because they can clearly see the surrounding designs.

We do not recommend Clear Cut Stencils for new artists who are working on fake skin or just getting started as they are much more expensive than the traditional transfer paper.

Become a Tattoo Artist With the Artist Accelerator Program

Having a career in tattooing is not only fulfilling, but it’s also the most stable way to make a living as an artist. However, for decades, the process to become a tattoo artist has been notoriously difficult.

The apprenticeship process requires aspiring tattoo artists to work 50-60 hours a week without pay for 2-4 years. That, combined with the toxic culture of abusing apprentices, makes getting into the industry almost impossible for newcomers.

That’s why we created the Artist Accelerator Program. Our online course provides a simple, structured way of learning to tattoo that has been proven to work by over 2500 successful students, with many of them having gone on to open their own shops all around the world.

Inside the program, we’ll take you through every step of the tattooing process in 9 clear, easy-to-follow modules and support you along the way within the Tattooing 101 Mastermind online community.

In the Mastermind group, you’ll collaborate with other students, get answers to your questions, and receive personalized video feedback on your artwork and tattoos from professional tattoo artists. With this friendly community of both new and experienced tattoo artists, you’ll never be stuck again.

When you join the Artist Accelerator Program, you’ll have instant access to the full course and the Mastermind community, as well as our 30-Day Flash Challenge and recorded interviews with tattoo artists from all over the world.
