Hello, I joined the forum about a year ago I think but dissapeared for a bit to focus on my art and push myself a little better.
I still work with graphite but have taken up airbrushing from Jan this year. Taken to it fairly well, here’s a recent graphite drawing of Eddy from maiden which was completely freehand but from reference and two of my airbrushed paintings. One was from a Dru Blair course I attended and the other was one of my own from reference again...........
I’m just managing to draw roses and skulls from imagination which i’m really happy about as it shows i’m learning as I don’t want to be a slave to the reference for the rest of my life

Thank you and nooooooo i’m still a baby to this art thing. I’ve had offers and people asking but I’m just doing my thing for me at the mo. “If” I get the opportunity to tattoo at some point it’s the reason I started this mad journey so painting to sell never really crossed my mind. I just enjoy mixing my colours and slinging my paint. Met some incredibly talented people on the way though and hopefully friends for life. That’s enough for me and far more value in it than selling my art, although if I get to the level I want and the tattooing dream falls apart it’s always an option I suppose.

Airbrush work is awesome. That is just great work. I think it is blinding us from the tattooing aspect of your drawing. The Eddie is pretty good but I would say needs work compared to the air brush work.

Freehand drawing will be a skill to help Tattoo for sure, the movements for the shadings and line work will replicate Tattooing more than air brush work. Now seeing your air brush work shows that you have a good understanding of light source and where to put the shading and highlights, so thats great. Well done, find time to practice more and you will be a natural.

Thanks Jerry, yeah the Eddy was a quick drawing really.
Only started as a practice and then I quite enjoyed it lol.
With the airbrush art It was realy to learn colour theory the reason I started and i’m hooked.
Starting a colour pencil project next after I have worked all this stuff out with my new coil machines like tuning, set ups, maintenance .......etc
I’m always up to something every day be it rough sketching or plotting out projects, mucking about with procreate....
