Hi all,
I have the usual thermocopier machine for my stencils.

Thing is i need more details on my stencils, as i work from 7RL to single liners.
But today the thinnest lines i can print on my stencil paper are about a 3 or 5RL in size... Damn me!

I have some really intricate and detailed designs i would love to do, but i fear a stencil without those details is gonna end in a global mess.

What are the printing options there are, as i don't want to do my stencils by hand (thanks, technology)?

Peace,

DKJ

I've seen that some expensive copiers are advertising a 300 dpi resolution.

I wonder if someone here knows how much dpi a classic thermal copier has?
Talking about this model:

I use the same printer, I have found that it can print very fine lines, but the end result is that the lines are very faint and/or merge together if they are too close. Maybe invest in an Eco tank printer or a more up market thermal stencil printer.
I haven't had any experience using an Eco tank or more expensive Thermal printer, so can't tell you if they do fine lines any better, maybe others on here may guide you in the right direction.

I have a brother pj-773. I have never owned or used or even seen a stencil from any other printers, so I can't compare unfortunately.

I'm happy enough with the thinnest possible lines from my printer. I have a reference line on my iPad (Inking/Fine Tip 3% size, for you who have Procreate) - that's the thinnest I can print. When printed it becomes a little thinner.

I can show you one of my stencils, maybe that's of any guidance:

This stencil was printed on an A4 paper (21x29,7cm size):

This is the size on the client:

Thanks Big Pete and MalligaMallan

I have the same thing than Pete, when lines are too close to each other, they tend to become a random blob.

I was looking after the pj-773 and such 300dpi printers but the price got me looking elsewhere, 650€ where i live!

The ecotank solution could be next step, with a price around 350€, printer included...

Ok, found a solution which was really in front of my face: just pushed the DEEPNESS 2 (instead of deepness 1) on my thermocopier and that was it!

Now i have some really thin lines, like a single needle would be on skin. Happy happy happy!

Hope it'll help anyone else, one day.

Peace,
