@KarosLajos Good idea to mirror it :) ps is perfect for working with pics! I asked how you did because I was curious :) I certainly do not think it is "better" to draw by hand and not use ps :) Just so you know.

And thank you! I'm having a great time

Dear Malin!
I like your opinion! Some other forums people said it,
It's a cheat but i Don't think that cause it's an original piece !!!

@KarosLajos its in no way a cheat to use PS I use it a lot, i just prefer to have hand drawn artworks for stuff i'm actually tattooing as I couldn't match the perfection achievable in PS :(

Hi! Totally neglecting my pens at the moment, planning a hen party seems to be consuming all of my time

Anywhos, I've been working on this for a short while each night so I'm not completely out of the loop! Back to basics. Pen and biro! I love the way you can develop the dark areas just plainly with a biro. Fun, but took a while!

How does that animation plug work and what are you not satisfied with?

It's a plug in for Adobe After Effects. You can do some really nice stuff with it:

I just don't get the same effect in 2D, obviously, and in some places it just looks messy and there are so many different things to try out. I guess it's just one of those moments where you can't get the image you have in your head down on paper...

The thread never fell asleep, it's only due to the forum fail that the thread seems old (last post before yours from 2015)

Nice! I also discovered that some days ago using it on the bad side ^^ But in your case you can't see the difference, in mine it was a disaster lol

Went to a life drawing class last night, haven't done anything like this since i was in school almost 20 years ago.
First we did 9 x 2min sketches followed by 4 x 5min sketches then finished up with 1 x 90min drawing

You guys are true artists, what amazing artwork, I will never be like that, so its classic 70's 80's 90's styles with stencils for me, My confidence just left for a holiday in the Maldives after reading this thread :)

Hey James, good effort. If you don't mind me saying you seem to be struggling with perspective. It's not an easy thing to master but there's a lot of tutorial material on getting it down (so to speak).

When drawing from life (which I would fully encourage), try to avoid what you think you see (in your mind's eye) and focus on what you actually see. Drawing is totally a 'looking' process, the mark making is just the recording part. Sometimes you'll imagine what you actually see won't look right on the page (especially when deep foreshortening occurs) but stick with 'what you see' and record it...it'll look right.

For figure drawing you can start by drawing little perspective grids on your ground plane. By simply placing the two feet in the right locations you'll appreciate a fair bit about how perspective changes the positions of elements.

Stick with it and challenge yourself...it's totally learnable (if that's a word).

Thanks for the advice whippet...drawing is just like any other skill, it requires practice, a lot if you want to be good! As I said this was the first figure/life drawing I'd done in around 20 years and even back then I wasn't great... I did enjoy this though and really hope to do more of it, unfortunately there's not too many opportunities to do this kind of stuff out here although there does seem to be more and more as this city develops...

I think everyone draws insiration from what they see Dazza, if its a close copy, its still done by your own hand on the paper, its good work.

When you think about it, most tattoo art is a form of copy, after all, nearly all tattooing is following lines of a stencil, the work is in the shading and that is down to you. liked it.
