Alright so upfront just a bit of my thought process.
I've been actively listening to the criticism and tbh I love that I'm getting such great advice and outlook I cant appreciate it more. So with that said uve been focusing on trying to do harder flashes with some trickier things I have problems with (longer lines, curvier lines or just a spherical shape.
(Because my ig master or teacher is the best word to use says I'm not doing anything if I dnt do a tattoo)
As an artist I've always struggled with lines be it crisp lines or use of line weight which I am more confident but still a bit nervous about when it comes to tattoos so today without further to do a piece I thought would test my lines and the shading which I'm usually pretty proud of (not meaning it's good shading)

If it's the line work you want to improve, why not go for a bunch of traditional designs? Not sure if going more complex is doing you any good, if you don't have the basics down. Traditionals are harder to do than you might think, there's little room for mistakes. But, practice makes the master! Good job.

Lol hmm never thought of it that way I also just like to vary it up I'll try something tomorrow though I've been wanting to do something japanese for a while tbh (just always liked the way japanese looks )

@Pzychotixx like @balooka said, american traditional is a great style to practice lining and colour packing... it's pretty unforgiving since you'll notice every little mistake you make.
Personally I started with traditional but can't handle most red ink's so switched to more traditional Japanese stuff, since it's also mostly linework and solid colour. Big benefit of American Traditional is the fact that there is plenty of small and big flash available to "reference" while small Japanese flash is a lot harder to get hold. Also there is a lot of symbolism behind most designs so it pays to do some research. I nearly ended up tattooing a good luck charm for pregnant women on my leg

lines look better than on the birds...but I'm with the cool kids on crank out some traditional. Tackle a sailor jerry clipper ship if you want to test your linework and shading.

check out some Sailor Jerry flash, do some of those traditionals and get the lines good and even. on those large rounds you can see your joins, you should be able to pull a half circle from the shoulder with no join, but if you cant, then remember to slowly ship out and then when you start back and join, whip slowly in, it will hide the join and give a more constant depth as you practice it.
Good work though, its hard to get everything right at once, so practice that lining first.

Good line practice will be some japanese lettering, it will make you see where you lose depth or shape, you can use it for packing (filling) practice later too
do some long curves and try to keep them parallel, pull from the shoulder and elbow, keep the wrist still if you can. you will find those round designs so much easier once you get that sorted.



Stuff like this is good for line practice, and shading and its small enough to be fun and not start to feel a chore. practice must always be fun, if you are not enjoying what you do, you will not do your best.

Ok lol I'll keep the joining thing in mind I was having depth issues cause I had my needle set a bit too long so to get a line and effectively not scar my "client"
