Hey everyone,

I'm fairly new to this site, signed up a few months back and this is my first post other than my introduction. I'm still learning my way around the site and forums so I hope this is the right place for my question.

Anywho, I recently picked up two Eikon Symbeos rotary machines secondhand online, one I believe is the fast shader with adjustable give, the other is the liner with hard hit. Both I believe are 3.25mm with Eikons #4 motor. I was hoping someone on here is familiar with these machine or something similar, and could give me some tips or advice when it comes to running them for lining and colour fill. I did one flash piece so far on my roommate for practice and although the tattoo seemed good when it was fresh (ink genrrally went in first pass with minimal to no redness) I've noticed some raised lines or possible scarring after healing. This is all mainly on the line work, and I'm wondering if it is the new machine hitting harder than my previous rotary pen, or could it be that the machine runs faster or differently than my previous machine even at the same volts and I'm not compensating for this? I currently use a hurricane hp-2 power supply running 6.5-7v for lining (as I am new and still take my time) and 5.5-6v usually for colouring. My previous rotary pen is just a cheap Atom from amazon my friend gave me (which has been okay actually so far), and given the differences between it and the Eikon machines I'm having a hard time figuring out how to correct this issue. In the end I would much rather be able to use machines from a reputable company in the industry rather than one off amazon. So any help would be much appreciated, and if this belongs in techniques or somewhere else my bad! Thanks everyone!

Did it heal ok? Or scar whilst healing? I've had raised lines before, but healed fine it's just a tiny bit raised after healing. Eventually goes down. Never really known why? Maybe too much ink in one spot. Looks fine, never red or scarred and heals fine but stays a tiny bit raised for maybe a month or so. Curious to see what anyone else says. But if that's the case for you it goes down and looks fine in the end

some people just get raised lines really bad, some get it on the fill a little bit, and some get nothing whatsoever. It's the body pushing fluids to the wound. I've personally had some tattoos that are slightly raised for years (hard to see, but you can feel it). My wife and daughter both go through a period of about a month where they inflate and then settle down. Not to say scarring doesn't happen, but that tattoo doesn't look like it's been overworked at all so this could easily just be a natural part of the healing here.

Thanks for the info! Update on the healing process, the majority of the lines do seem to be settling down with minimal raised parts through out. This is about 3 weeks into the healing process now. I have to agree that I think the machine and techinque are probably okay, though I still wonder if my hand speed was maybe a tad slower than it could have been, causing the healing process to be a little rougher than tattoos I have done on this person in the past. Something to think about and try next time I guess!
