I have heard some compare any form of body mod be it piercing or tattooing as self harm but I dont feel that way myself, I've never been that interested in the piercing side as it holds no appeal to me (had my ear pierced as a teenager but thats as far as it went). I'm not that into the more extreme body modifications personally but I don't judge those that are and feel its their choice as long as they aren't doing anything that hurts others who am i to say they are wrong. I asked about it in here as wondered if anyone had any experience of doing them.everyone to their own, you could say it's a form of self harming but i suppose some people say that about getting a tattoo.
I know what you mean but surely the same goes to a certain degree with tattoos you can only give the best advice for the proper aftercare its down to them to follow that adviceI'd like to get into this but the risks involve frighten me - infection wise etc.
I can imagine lots of people failing to take adequate care afterward regardless of howuch adive you give them. The clients responsibility is huge and many of the people I meet that would be smart enough to take the correct care wouldn't be willing to put themselves through the process!

exactly I personally dont like gauged ears but i know some people do its a personal aesthetic view i just dont share with them, same goes for tattoos there are some styles I like which others dont and vice versa. I was doing some pyrography on wood the other day and it got me thinking that branding using similar equipment (obviously specialized to be used on skin not what I use to burn wood and bone) wouldn't be that much different so I googled it found out a bit researched who is doing it in this country and emailed them for advice, as it may be an extra string to my bow at the studio and something different not every jo shmo will be comfortable doing or capable of doing, and as an after thought I decided to ask on here and I seem to have opened a can of worms lolthis is what makes a good forum, different points of view, some people could say bollox to having a tunnel in my ear i much prefer a branding some where on my body that i can cover up if i want to but i'm not going to argue about peoples preferences Im looking at it from a business point of view, if i have already got a registered studio set up why not give the customer what they want, i know someone else will and most people into modification like tattoos and piercings so will probably have friends into the same things, so it's ongoing and i'm up for that.
well I'm glad of that I wasn't sure if it would get a good response as not everyone into tattooing is open to other forms of body moding, it looks like it may get official forum status and get bumped into the premium section however if it gets any more popularA can of worms is a bad thing, this thread is becoming very interesting.
OMFG!! those guys are crazyGood read this, each to their own.
Anyone ever see the pain Olympics finals? That takes it far, far away from anything here!
Google it, thats some serious body modding!
I'll save you the trouble!
No offence taken sorry I wasn't clearer in my reply, I do not consider it artistic there is no way I would consider the person responsible as an artist either. That does not enhance the body its just mutilated it.I'm Not being rude Ian but the question I asked was " who considers this to be art "
